Château Cheval Blanc

Château Cheval Blanc is a historic estate located in the heart of Bordeaux between Saint-Emilion and Pomerol. The origins of these vineyards are ancient, and for years, exceptional quality wines have been produced in this area. In 1832, Jean-Jacques Ducasse, president of the Commercial Court of Libourne, purchased the core of the current estate and over the following years expanded the plots to reach the current 39 hectares. In 1954, it received the highest distinction in the first classification of Saint-Emilion wines: Premier Grand Cru Classé “A”, a rank confirmed for all subsequent years, thus becoming part of the exclusive “Club of 9”.

The vineyards of Château Cheval Blanc are divided into 45 parcels, each cared for differently based on the age of the vines, the type of soil, and the grape variety cultivated. What makes this area unique is the presence of three fundamental types of soil: fine-textured clay, coarser-textured gravel, and coarse gravel with sand. The three cultivated varietiesare Cabernet Franc at 52%, Merlot at 43%, and Cabernet Sauvignon at 5%, growing on different soils, they acquire completely different characteristics that blend together to create labels that are powerful and elegant at the same time. The winery was designed by Christian de Portzamparc and inaugurated in 2011, with the aim of creating a structure that integrates well with the territory and allows natural light to enter.

At Château Cheval Blanc, the alliance between history, experience, hard work, and the quality of an incredible terroir has allowed for the realization over time of expressions of pure craftsmanship and excellence. The characteristics that distinguish the bottles from this winery are the ability to encapsulate and express so many facets in a refined manner and, above all, to do so over time, with a unique aging potential in the world.
