Château L'Oasis

In the splendid Mediterranean landscape of Provence, since 1880 Chateau L’Oasis has been dedicated to the cultivation of local grape varieties. The winery is located in the municipality of La Crau, at the foot of Monte Fenouillet, just a few kilometers from the coast, and is situated within an Eastern-style castle surrounded by a green oasis, hence the name. In fact, around the estate grow palm trees, cacti, jasmine, and bougainvillea plants that form a beautiful Mediterranean garden. Chateau L’Oasis was born as a project dedicated to kosher wines initiated by the Algerian-origin Ravel family, already owners of Chateau Montaud, another Domaine in Provence.

The vineyards of the Chateau L’Oasis winery rest on clay-limestone soils, in a Mediterranean environment surrounded by olive groves and fields of peonies. The climate that characterizes the area is typically Mediterranean, with hot and sunny summers mitigated by the constant sea breezes. In this pedoclimatic context, the estate cultivates some of the traditional black grape varieties of the area, namely Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault, historically blended to create the famous Provençal rosé wines. The processing method for rosés, the core of production, consists of a gentle pressing after harvest, with the clusters undergoing a brief maceration on the skins to extract the right amount of pigments. The subsequent alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks, while malolactic fermentation is blocked through refrigeration to preserve the natural freshness of the finished wine.

As per tradition for the Provence area, the production of Chateau L’Oasis is focused on rosé wines, characterized by a refreshing and Mediterranean sensory profile, qualities that make them an ideal pairing for multiple seafood preparations.
