Clos de Los Siete

Clos de los Siete represents a unique viticultural project born in Mendoza in 1998 with Michel Rolland, a Bordeaux winemaker among the most famous and influential in the world whose portfolio includes around a hundred wineries spread across 13 different countries, and Jean-Michel Arcaute, Rolland's best friend and also a prominent Bordeaux producer, tragically passed away in 2001. The two decided to involve five other figures in the project who shared a passion for the wine world, with the common intent of enhancing Argentine viticulture and Malbec, a grape variety native to Bordeaux that has found its ideal habitat in Mendoza. Today, only four of the original seven partners who started the project remain. Each contributes a part of their production to the final blend that gives rise to the only label of Clos de los Siete, personally assembled by Michel Rolland. These four wineries belong to four passionate Bordeaux families, each caring for their own land. They are the bodegas Monteviejo, Cuvelier los Andes, DiamAndes, and Bodega Rolland.

The vineyards, spread over 850hectares at the foot of the Andes, are located at about 1,200 meters above sea level and enjoy a south and southwest exposure. The soils, of alluvial origin, are sandy and clayey, rich in gravel and stones, while the climate is dry, mild, and sunny, marked by significant temperature excursions between day and night. In the field, the canopy management is done by hand, with controlled yields and manual harvests. Once the bunches are transferred to the winery, they undergo a rigorous selection, with the subsequent fermentation phase occurring in stainless steel at controlled temperature. Subsequently, 70% of the mass ages for about 11 months in French oak barriques before the final bottling.

Clos de los Siete consists of a rich blend of Malbec, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc, whose respective percentages vary depending on the vintage but with Malbec always reigning, forming at least half of the blend. The wide production ranges from 600,000 to one million bottles, capable of embodying
