Feudi del Pisciotto
Feudi del Pisciotto makes its leap in 2002, when Paolo Panerai decides to transfer the experience gained with the Tuscan estates to this Sicilian Feudo dating back to the 1700s, in Niscemi, in the province of Caltanissetta. The winery is located within the vast Riserva del Pisciotto, famous for its great biodiversity, and here you can find a perfect union between Roman technology, which has remained unchanged thanks to renovation work and based on the exploitation of gravity for grape processing, and modern methods using advanced equipment. The winemaker Alessandro Cellai skillfully applies his hand across all 45 hectares of the estate, with the sole aim of bringing the winery to the pinnacle of Sicilian viticulture.
The wines of Feudi del Pisciotto are produced by combining native grape varieties including Nero D’Avola, Frappato, Grillo alongside some international ones like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay and in recent years Pinot Nero, Gewürztraminer and Semillon, for the production of passito. Between one hundred and the three hundred meters above sea level, which is just about ten kilometers away, the salty breeze caresses the grapes giving them their characteristic aromas. The soils are mainly sandy, in some cases medium-textured with a good presence of limestone and it is not unusual for both whites and reds to undergo several months of aging in barrique, to soften, enhance and perfect their aromatic range.
Some labels from Feudi del Pisciotto have been created by prominent personalities in the fashion world, such as Ferrè, Missoni and Versace, a happy choice that has formed the Collection of Great Italian Designers, who contribute to financing the restoration of some important works of art in the Sicilian territory. Recently, this line has been joined by Baglio del Sole, which offers easy-drinking wines at very competitive prices, and Gurra di Mare, which produces Tirsat from Chardonnay and Viogner grapes grown by the sea. The unique Passito “Ferrè”, made with Gewürztraminer and Semillon, with its golden mantle and hazelnut aromas, the Frappato “Carolina Marengo” with its bouquet rich in spices and red fruits and the Cabernet Sauvignon “Missoni” with the ruby intensity of the notes of marasca and pepper are some of the pearls in a necklace of unmissable experiences.
