Flechas de Los Andes

Flechas de Los Andes is a joint venture established in 1999 in the Valle de Uco, Mendoza, between the Edmond de Rotschild family, one of the most famous Bordeaux dynasties in the wine world, and Laurent Dassault, a well-known French entrepreneur. The intent was and still is to offer a “Grand Cru of the New World” crafted from this terroir highly suited for viticulture. The winery was part of the Clos de Los Siete project, a wine-growing reality founded in Argentina by 7 Bordeaux families with the common goal of enhancing the local wine landscape. A few years later, the Rotschilds and Laurent Dassault chose to continue their winemaking adventure completely independently. “Flechas de los Andes” literally means “arrows of the Andes”. The name is a tribute to the emblem of the Rotschild family, where 5 arrows representing the 5 sons of the dynasty's founder, Mayer Amschel Rotschild, are depicted. The structure housing the winery, located right at the foot of the Andes mountain range, impresses with the unique architecture, a reinterpretation of traditional Argentine constructions.

The bodega Flechas de Los Andes consists of just over 100 hectares, planted over 20 years ago and divided into 48 different parcels located at about 1,100 meters above sea level. The climate is continental, sunny, and dry, with significant temperature variations between day and night, while the soils, of alluvial origin, are rich in gravel, stones, and minerals. In this environmental context, the plants are carefully cultivated through a precise viticulture attentive to detail, which pursues environmental sustainability. The cultivation revolves around the territory's principal grape variety: Malbec, alongside which Cabernet Franc is found. The harvest is carried out manually, and the subsequent winemaking process is adapted according to the characteristics that the different plots present in each vintage.
