Fongoli
Fongoli is an Umbrian production reality, located on one of the hilltops of Montefalco, a fundamental center for regional wine production. It is a family-run winery that has reached its fourth generation, where warmth and passion are the soul behind the production of Fongoli wine. The common thread that unites the work of the Fongoli family from the origins of the winery, about seventy years ago, to today is represented by a strong attention to the environment surrounding the owned vineyards. An approach that, in recent years, has become even more integral, marking the winery's adherence to the production regulations of the Vinnatur association, a reference point for all those enlightened winemakers who embrace the cause of artisanal production.
The lands of the Fongoli winery extend over about 35 hectares, where, in addition to the vineyards, we find woods, meadows, and a natural truffle ground. The entire area is cultivated with certified organic practices, and with principles that are also adhere to biodynamic agriculture. The vineyards are interspersed with tall trees to ensure biodiversity, and the vines are treated only with copper sulfate and self-produced lime, along with mined sulfur powder. Among the rows, various types of native and international grapes are cultivated, starting with Sagrantino, Trebbiano Spoletino, and Grechetto, and extending to Sangiovese, Merlot, Montepulciano, and Cabernet Sauvignon. In the cellar, the reds are produced traditionally, while for the whites, there is constant attention to oxidation and respect for the typical aromas of the varietals; fermentations occur spontaneously, and starting from the 2017 vintage, all wines are naturally clarified through racking, without any filtration.
Fongoli offers a beautiful range of labels, crafted according to a tradition that has been carried on for four generations, producing typical and regional wines that reflect the personality of the Montefalco terroir. For this reason, among the various products, the different expressions of the DOCG Sagrantino di Montefalco deserve special attention.all the "Fracanton", and the whites of the area, such as the Grechetto "La Palmetta". In short, pure and sincere expressions, true and authentic, that tell in every sip the magnificent and prestigious territory of Montefalco.
