Il Tufiello - Zampaglione

Tenuta Il Tufiello is the other side of the coin of Tenuta Grillo, both signed by Zampaglione. Campania and Piemonte, Irpinia and Monferrato, South and North: it doesn't matter where the headquarters are, what matters is the production philosophy of inspiration, always the same: pure and essential craftsmanship.

Il Tufiello originally comes from Calitri, in Alta Irpinia - the mountain of Campania - as a cereal company that immediately established itself for the quality pursued, positioning itself among the first in the entire South to obtain organic certification in 1990, thanks to the foresight of Michele Zampaglione. In this corner of Campania, where the expanses of wheat leave room here and there for wind turbines, Guido Zampaglione, son of Michele, has taken over two hectares of vineyard that he tends with the patience and seriousness of a father, but has been able to interpret like a child, pouring in due time the dreams of a young idealistic winemaker. He is undoubtedly the progenitor of a new generation of winemakers who stop being exclusively the 'producers', becoming true artists of wine. He has made long macerations on the skins, the absence of filtration, the use of only indigenous yeasts and little sulfur, his strong point, giving life to a bold, revolutionary and dreamy interpretation of Fiano. Because before then, orange Fiano had never been seen - or perhaps only seen poorly - and the possibility of facing challenges with this grape variety seemed truly impossible. In the meantime, Guido has come a long way and together with his wife Igiea has given life to a new agricultural project on the opposite side of the boot, in Monferrato in Piemonte. Every year, however, he returns to vinify his small plot of Fiano, continuing to honor that territory that gave him birth, those altitudes that made his Sancho Panza famous, those restless winds that made his Montemattina great.

At Tenuta Il Tufiello, a monotheistic religion is professed: for two generations, they have chosen to specialize exclusively in one single grape variety, Fiano, without discounts or shortcuts, with the aim of interpreting its intrinsic character in the most authentic way and spreading the belief to more and more drinkers.
