Iuli
Cascina Iuli is the creation of Fabrizio Iuli, an enthusiastic artisanal winemaker who has been working with the vines of the Basso Monferrato area, his homeland, since 1998, producing wines of rare authenticity and remarkable freshness. Respect for the environment is a fundamental cornerstone of Fabrizio's philosophy, who represents yet another generation of the Iuli family dedicated to viticulture in Frazione Montaldo. His vineyards, surrounded by orchards, woods, gardens, and fields, have never been treated with chemicals and have always been cultivated organically. Furthermore, the Iuli family raises various species of animals that are free to roam among the rows, in a context of rich wildlife and flora. The vineyard area cultivated by the Iuli estate extends over 18 hectares, occupied by traditional Piedmontese grape varieties such as Barbera, Nebbiolo, and Grignolino, accompanied by an allochthonous grape that has shown excellent adaptation to the territory: Pinot Nero. Alongside these varieties, partly represented by very old vines, a significant effort has been made to recover ancient forgotten indigenous grape varieties.a significant effort to recover ancient forgotten indigenous grape varieties such as Slarina and Baratuciat. The plants are cultivated between 250 and 380 meters above sea level on white soils rich in limestone, clay, and mineral substances, located within the municipalities of Cerrina Monferrato, Odalengo Grande, Castelletto Merli, and Ponzano. The low yields of grapes per hectare allow for an important concentration of aromatic, phenolic, and sugary compounds in the berries, which are then spontaneously vinified with alcoholic and malolactic fermentation carried out respectively by indigenous yeasts and lactic acid bacteria. Cement tanks and wooden barrels are used as winemaking containers, and the wines are finally bottled without undergoing any clarification or filtration processes. Those produced by Cascina Iuli are fresh and dynamic expressions, a true reflection of the terroir from which they descend. Fabrizio's intention is to offer wines that possess great smoothness and drinkability, which, while rich and generous, never feel heavy.
