La Montecchia - Emo Capodilista
La Montecchia is a historic winery in the Colli Euganei, founded as far back as 1100 and now managed by Count Giordano Emo Capodilista, representative of the twenty-second generation of the noble family, who, with style and great commitment, takes care of the great inherited heritage: the stunning Villa Capodilista, the vast and ancient architectural complex, the vineyards, and the cellars. Today, as in the previous centuries of activity, La Montecchia has maintained and consolidated its role as a reference point for wine in the Colli Euganei, with labels that combine ancient traditions with undeniable elegance.
The vineyards owned by Count Emo Capodilista extend over 30 hectares and are divided into two parts: the first is adjacent to the villa and is surrounded by woods; the second is located in the nearby locality of Beone. In the vineyards, the main local grape varieties such as Raboso, Moscato Fior d’Arancio, and Carmenere are found, along with international varieties such as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The work in the vineyard and cellar is conducted with eco-sustainable attention: the electricitycomes from a photovoltaic system, the pruning cuttings are reused as fuel, and the water is sourced from a natural aquifer.
The wines of La Montecchia winery are very much tied to the territory and represent the result of a very ancient history combined with a modern and innovative quest for quality and elegance. The wine production ranges from expressive and pleasant whites to robust reds, finishing with a passito and a sweet sparkling wine based on Moscato Fior d’Arancio. These are well-made wines of high quality, with an exciting quality/price ratio!
