Lamiable
The Lamiable family settled in the territory of Tours-sur-Marne already in the 18th century, while the estate in its current form was founded in 1859 by Louis-Hippolyte, characterized by a generic agricultural activity. Only after the Second World War, in the early fifties, Pierre Lamiable planted the first vineyards, thus giving rise to the company: together with his brother Auguste, they literally dug out the underground cellars with pickaxes. The story continues with the subsequent generations: starting from 1970, Jean-Pierre began to process and bottle the Champagne, vinifying all the estate's grapes himself and boosting commercialization; in 2003, Ophelie, who grew up abroad, returned to her homeland and demonstrated great sensitivity and ability in managing the terroir and expanding the Maison.
The property of Maison Lamiable extends over three fundamental territories, all within the Montagne de Reims region, the limestone massif with a chalky soil, for a total of about 6 hectares, planted for a 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay. Tours-sur-Marne, where the winery is located with the plots of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, is a village recognized as Grand Cru, extending only over 53 hectares and situated right by the river of the same name. Bouzy, the fundamental village of this sector, is the other Grand Cru of the family dedicated entirely to Pinot Noir. A few kilometers further north and at a lower altitude, lies the Premier Cru village of Billy-le-Grand with the plots of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The vineyards are managed sustainably, with certified Viticulture Durable and Haute Valeur Environnementale agriculture: these are agronomic principles with low environmental impact, aimed at preserving the vineyard over the long term by using organic fertilization, abolishing the use of pesticides to favor natural predators for the protection of the leaf structures, and working the soil to ensure the regeneration of microelements and combat erosion.
