Le Fay D'Homme
The Domaine Le Fay D'Homme is a family-owned estate that has been dedicated to viticulture for over five generations. The estate is located in the vast vineyard of the Loire Valley, which runs across France from east to west, all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. The vines are cultivated in the heart of the Appellation Muscadet Sèvre et Maine and produce excellent versions of this interesting wine, which has gained popularity among enthusiasts in recent years for its fresh, fruity profile and immediate drinkability. Since 1986, Vincent Caillé has been at the helm of the Domaine, part of a new generation of winemakers who have played a crucial role in the revival of the region, focusing on quality. Thanks to meticulous work, he has quickly established a range of labels that highlight the potential of the terroir.
The area is characterized by an oceanic, mild, and temperate climate. It also benefits from marine breezes that soften temperatures and allow for excellent ripening of the grapes. From a soil perspective, the estate features a certain heterogeneity, with the presence of gneiss, gabbro, and orthogneiss, all very suitable soils for the vine. The vineyards cover a total area of about 25 hectares and are located near Monnière, with some plots in Gorges, Maisdon-sur-Sèvre, and Mouzillon. Among the rows, the principal grape variety of the area, Melon de Bourgogne, dominates, an ancient white grape of Burgundian origins that has been cultivated in the Nantes area for many centuries. However, there are also some parcels of Folle Blanche, Gamay, Abouriou, Côt, and Cabernet. In the countryside, work is done with the utmost respect for the vineyard and the ecosystem. The company has been certified organic since 2007 and biodynamic since 2012.
healthy and rich in biodiversity. Following a great attention to vineyard management, a simple and traditional winemaking process ensues, with spontaneous fermentations, the use of only indigenous yeasts, and long sur lie aging, to enrich the wines with structure and aromatic complexity. The result is a range of labels of excellent quality, which authentically reveal the character of one of the emerging whites of France. The Domaine Le Fay D'Homme is a family-owned estate that has been dedicated to viticulture for over five generations.
