Legras & Haas

The Maison Legras & Haas is a young reality in the Champagne landscape. It was founded in 1991 by three brothers Rémi, Olivier, and Jérôme Legras, who decided to enter this fascinating world with the desire to produce great wines in the spirit of the best traditions of the territory. As often happens with great Maisons, the property is divided into several estates located in various areas of the Appellation, allowing them to secure supplies of grapes from terroirs with different pedoclimatic characteristics that offer the opportunity to create every year harmonious and balanced cuvées. Furthermore, each grape variety can be cultivated in the most suited area, where it can express itself at the highest qualitative levels.

Part of the vineyards is located in the municipal territory of the Gran Cru of Choully, the northernmost of the Côte des Blancs. In this area, the Maison cultivates 18 hectares of Chardonnay divided into 35 parcels, which have an exposure facing east and north, characterized by a rather cool climate. The soils are composed of compact gypsum known as “Belemnites,” which retains water at depth to prevent the risk of water stress for the plants during the hot summer months. Another 12 hectares of vines are cultivated near Vitry, in one of the most suitable areas of all Champagne to enhance the freshness and elegance of Chardonnay. In this area, the soils are made up of gypsum mixed with clays and give the wines finesse combined with aromatic intensity, characteristics that contribute to producing very fine and rich wines.Kimmeridgian limestone similar to that found in Chablis. Thanks to this richness of base wines, coming from various areas of Champagne, the Maison can offer a range of labels with a classic face and excellent value.
