Masone Mannu

Masone Mannu is a beautiful reality of Gallura recently acquired by the Rimini entrepreneur, owner of the Mara winery in Romagna, who, in love with biodynamic philosophy, decided to convert the new Sardinian estates as well, uprooting the vineyards that are in less suitable positions. The name of the winery, in Logudorese dialect, means “great property” and identifies the 60 hectares nestled between the slopes of the Libara mountain range, in the heart of the Su Canale area in Monti, which are well suited for the production of Vermentino di Gallura DOCG. The vines are located at different altitudes and are mainly indigenous.

The vineyards of the Masone Mannu winery are rooted in soils particularly suitable for the production of fine white wines, in fact the main production concerns the best expressions of Vermentino di Gallura, Carignano, Bovale, and Malvasia. Despite the natural inclination towards this first type of grape, the reds, such as Cannonau, planted here on its own roots, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot manage to express themselves impeccably, with balance and pleasantness. Next to the vines almost exclusively trained in guyot, there remain some testimonies of the traditional alberello training for the oldest ones. For the fermentation phase, exclusively steel tanks are used and the musts can undergo some periods of maturation in wood to enhance the aromatic characteristics, softening their roughness.

The wines of Masone Mannu are in strong contact with the territory and are characterized by great freshness, excellent drinkability, very high quality, and strong aging potential. The Vermentino di Gallura “Petrizza” from Masone Mannu is a label of great freshness and has a surprisingly pleasant drink, easy to pair and with excellent aromatic character. The Vermentino di Gallura Superiore “Roccaìa” is softer and more enveloping, with a greater aging capacity and an aromatic range that spans from varietal citrus freshness to warmer notes of honey and dehydrated apricot. Masone Mannu is a guarantee of typicity for Sardinia, its vines, embraced by the cork oaks and exposed to the scent of juniper and myrtle, continue to represent the great tradition of this proud land.
