Prieure Roch
The Domaine Prieuré Roch is a splendid estate in Burgundy, which possesses vineyards of extraordinary quality and produces great wines with a classic profile, crafted with authentic artisanal passion. The properties of the Domaine are distributed along the entire Côte de Nuits, from Gevrey-Chambertin to Ladoix, where the territory of the Côte de Beaune begins. Thanks to a deep knowledge of the region and meticulous research work, always aimed at the highest quality, over time the estate has progressively enriched itself with prestigious parcels, located in some of the most famous and valued Climats of the Côte d’Or: Clos de Bèze, Clos de Vougeot, Les Suchots, Les Hautes Maizieres, Clos Goillotte, Les Clous, Clos des Corvées, Clos des Argillières, Le Cloud, Glapigny, Glapigny Poncet, Glapigny Boncourt, Au dessus des Gollardes.
The philosophy of Domaine Prieuré Roch is inspired by a concept of harmony with nature. Henry Frédéric Roch and Yannick Champ consider themselves simple winemakers and recognize themselvesperfectly in the French expression that summarizes their work the “conduite de la vigne”, meaning not to direct and create, but simply to listen, accompany and follow the vineyard in its annual journey, to put it in the best conditions to express itself by intervening as little as possible and leaving space for its natural development, its centuries-old interaction with the soil and the local climate. An approach that could also be summarized as letting the vineyard live by respecting its needs, with humility, without forcing, without the desire to impose the hand of man on the mature to shape it according to abstract ideas.
This vision of the relationship between man and vineyard also leads to enhancing and highlighting the peculiar characteristics of the territory and each individual vintage, accepting them as essential components of the wine, without trying to bend them to one’s own idea. The wine is considered as something original and unique, to be welcomed and respected just as the vintage has decided it to be. It is always the nature, the soil, the plant and the climate thatguide the personality of the wine and the vigneron must welcome it without trying to modify its essence. Only in this way is it possible to create true terroir wines, capable of expressing directly and sincerely the nuances of each single Climat. The result is an absolutely unmissable range of wines.
