Quarticello
Quarticello is a small artisanal winery run by Roberto Maestri, a young and talented winemaker, who produces very interesting wines, particularly loved by enthusiasts in search of authentic bottles, outside the standardization of the large national wine production. It is a reality to discover, approached with curiosity and the awareness of being able to count on labels capable of expressing in a frank and direct way the best characteristics of a territory, which boasts an ancient tradition in viticulture and still today produces wines of excellent quality.
The Quarticello estate is located near Montecchio, in the beautiful pre-Apennine hilly area between the cities of Parma and Reggio Emilia. The property extends over a total area of 8 hectares, of which 5 are dedicated to vineyards. The area is situated at an altitude between 100 and 200 meters above sea level and can enjoy a mild and sunny climate, with cool nights that favor good temperature excursions. The soils are of medium texture, predominantly composed of a clay-sandy matrix, with the presence of layers of gravel in the subsoil. The agronomic management of the vineyards has always been inspired by maximum respect for the environment and the natural ecosystem as a whole. Among the rows, the principles of certified organic farming are followed, also using practices derived from biodynamics. All field operations, from winter pruning to harvesting, are carried out manually.
The vineyards are aged between 10 and 40 years and have been planted in full respect of the oldest customs of the area. The historical Emilian varieties have been favored for the reds: Lambrusco Maestri, Lambrusco Grasparossa, Lambrusco Salamino, Malbo Gentile, while for the whites, the Spergola and the Malvasia Aromatica di Candia. The high planting density and a management oriented towards low yields allow for the vinification of grapes with rich and concentrated aromas. The labels perfectly reflect the desire to remain anchored to the roots of the place and offer a range of sparkling and still wines, that provide the pleasure of rediscovering the truest and most authentic regional flavors.
