Rosso Giovanni
Giovanni Rosso is a historic producer from the Langhe, one of those winemakers who has significantly contributed to the fortune and fame of Nebbiolo. For over 100 years, the Rosso family has cultivated vineyards included in about ten prestigious crus of Serralunga d’Alba, including Cerretta and La Serra, to which the famous Vigna Rionda has been added in more recent years. The qualitative turning point that began in the 1980s has led the family to stand out among the landmarks of the territory, making excellence the only criterion to follow in all phases of production, from the vineyard to the cellar. In 2001, Davide, Giovanni's son, still very young but already strong with important experiences in Burgundy, took the reins of the family business. Today, he is the one overseeing and directing all the work in the vineyard and cellar, guided by the deep conviction that wine must be "the perfect copy of the terroir".
The Giovanni Rosso winery has 10 hectares divided among the best crus of Serralunga d’Alba, along with 6 hectares of recent acquisition on the slopes of Etna. Davide does not use herbicides and performs work, only when necessary, on alternate rows. The vinifications are based on a rigorous and traditional style, utilizing only indigenous yeasts and relying on large French oak barrels for aging. In this way, the goal of creating an excellent production of great elegance, which maintains a close territorial adherence, is pursued with great results.
