The vineyards of Campo alla Sughera winery have been divided into 15 micro-sites and 38 parcels, in order to study and enhance every single peculiarity, and they extend over more than 16 hectares. The choice to adopt the “médocaine” method, imported from the Bordeaux region, involves a high planting density, that is, 9,500 vines per hectare, and a low height of the vines. Additionally, to achieve high-quality harvests, the yield in clusters of the plants is kept low. In the winery, nothing is left to chance and wide space is left for experimentation, with cutting-edge technologies. The musts are moved by gravity, utilizing the force of gravity, and the aging takes place in most cases in carefully selected oak barrels. Isabel Knauf and her cousin Frederik take care of all aspects of production, relying on the consultancy of top professionals, such as the oenologist Stéphane Derenoncourt.
