ColleMassari

The estate of Castello ColleMassari is one of the most beautiful and evocative wineries in Tuscany, the main nucleus of a vast network of farms and vineyards owned by Claudio Tipa, a former telecommunications engineer who became a central figure in the enhancement of Tuscan wine. The estate is located on the slopes of Monte Amiata, in the heart of Maremma Toscana, in a landscape preserved from mass tourism and populated by vast woods interrupted by vineyards and olive groves overlooking the Argentario.

ColleMassari today boasts a modern and functional winery integrated into the ancient castle and a property of 1200 hectares, of which only 10% is occupied by vineyards. In the farm that gave its name to the DOC Montecucco are the oldest plants, with vines that have surpassed 50 years of age. Here we find the red grape varieties that have made the Maremma terroir famous in the world, such as Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo, and Cabernet Sauvignon, while on the side most exposed to the sea breezes, Vermentino dominates.

The attention to the territory in all its aspects, anthropological and natural, has led Claudio Tipa to convert the vineyards to organic farming and to encourage the local economy by hiring young qualified and passionate staff.

The wines of ColleMassari represent one of the peaks of excellence of the progressive qualitative growth that has affected all of Tuscany and especially Maremma in recent years. Here, inexpressible wine expressions are born, champions of elegance, personality, and compactness: wines that encapsulate the essence of the territory and communicate it with great genuineness, temperament, and charisma.
