Filippi

The Filippi winery is a faithful and sincere interpreter of the Soave area, a territory in the province of Verona whose name seems to derive from Suaves, the identifying name of the Swabians, a people who arrived in Italy led by the Lombard king Alboino, implementing local viticulture, already established in Roman times. The estate is located in Castelcerino, a hamlet of the municipality of Soave, in the highest area of the denomination. Since the early years of the 20th century, the Filippi family has dedicated itself to viticulture, but it is only in more recent times that Filippo Filippi, after inheriting the family vineyards, began to market wines under his own label.

There are approximately 15 hectares of vineyards cultivated by Filippo Filippi, mainly reserved for Garganega, a white grape variety that is a symbol of the Soave territory, accompanied by a smaller percentage of Trebbiano Soave, another traditional variety. The vines, some of which are very old, are trained using the Veronese pergola system at a height of 400 meters above sea level, on predominantly clay and limestone soils of volcanic origin.sea, on predominantly clay and limestone soils of volcanic origin. The agronomic management follows the principles of certified organic farming and the harvests are carried out entirely by hand. In the winery, fermentations occur entirely spontaneously thanks to the sole presence of indigenous yeasts, and only stainless steel tanks are used as winemaking containers, excluding the use of wood that can alter the purest varietal and territorial expression. The maturations take place on the fine lees, a factor that enhances the complexity and structure of the wines, and the masses are finally bottled without any filtration.

The labels of the Filippi winery stand out for their vibrant and tense mineral signature, a distinctive character of the Soave territory. A pride of the range is the “triad” of Soave ‘Castelcerino’, ‘Vigne della Brà’ and ‘Monteseroni’, interpretations of slightly differentiated plots for pedological and environmental characteristics that reveal the extraordinary viticultural vocation of the area.
