Letrari
The Letrari Winery, located in Rovereto, in the Val Lagarina, was founded by Leonello Letrari and his wife Maria Vittoria in 1976. The Letrari family had already been present in this region since the 17th century, first as raftsmen on the Adige River, in Borghetto d'Avio, then as merchants, and finally as farmers. Leonello, born in 1931, began his career in the wine world working at the Bossi Fedrigotti Counts' Company, where he showcased his ingenuity by creating the Fojaneghe in 1961, an Italian Bordeaux that immediately achieved great success.
However, the relationship with Count Federico is quite troubled and stormy, so much so that, after a trip to France, with four friends Bepi Andreaus, Ferdinando Tonon, Pietro Tura, and Riccardo Zanetti, he decides to leave the Company and create, with their collaboration, the Equipe 5, a classic method sparkling wine that marks the history of sparkling wine in Italy.
Paolo Emilio. The Winery has about 23 hectares of vineyards, scattered along the Adige Valley, on poor and rocky soils, which benefit from a very favorable microclimate, due to the so-called Ora del Garda, to the point that in the valley the vineyards alternate with olive groves.
In 2000, the Letrari family left the old winery of Palazzo Lodron in Nogaredo and inaugurated the new winery in Borgo Sacco di Rovereto, a model winery, respectful of the environment and the traditional rural architecture of the region, equipped with all the most modern winemaking equipment. The Letrari Winery produces 27 different labels, including sparkling wines, red, white, and rosé wines, but the pride of place is undoubtedly the sparkling wines.
