Tinedo

The Bodega Tinedo is a family-run winery entirely managed by the Alvarez-Arenas, a family of authentic and passionate winemakers. The first evidence of their winemaking activity dates back to 1742, and the manor house and the winery buildings were constructed at the end of the 19th century by the great-grandparents of the current owners Manuel, Esperanza, and Amparo, who, starting in 2002, initiated a profound renewal of the production activity. The territory is that of the vast Spanish region of La Mancia, on the Sierra del Alcaraz plateau, where the 49 hectares of vineyards of the Alvarez-Arenas extend, managed with a deep environmental consciousness.

The activity of the Tinedo winery is based on the respect for organic and sustainable agriculture, that is, on the exclusion of herbicides and synthetic chemical products and on the use of natural soil fertilization techniques. The grape pomace is reused, for example, as natural compost to nourish the vineyards. The excellent pedoclimatic characteristics of the territory, such as an altitude of 700 meters above sea level, the clayey soils, and the mild continental climate contribute to facilitating sustainable vineyard management. Grapes are mostly harvested by hand and brought to the winery within a few minutes, where fermentations take place in large concrete or steel tanks. No clarifications or filtrations are used, and for aging, either concrete barrels or old French or American oak barrels are used.
