Vazart Coquart
Vazart Coquart & Fils represents a Récoltant Manipulant producer from the Côte des Blancs, a prestigious wine area of Champagne that provides sparkling wines of rare finesse. This family-run sparkling wine house, founded in 1954, is located within the Grand Cru village of Chouilly, where Chardonnay reigns supreme. Three generations of the Vazart family have passed the baton, first Louis, then his son Jaquart, until reaching Jean-Pierre, who in 1991 joined his father and today manages the winery together with his wife Caroline. Initially, the estate was named Louis Vazart but later Louis himself decided to combine his surname with that of his wife Marie Coquart, giving rise to the current name.
The 11 hectares of vineyards available to Vazart Coquart are spread over 30 different plots, mainly dedicated to Chardonnay, accompanied by a small percentage of Pinot Noir. Attention to the vineyard is one of the foundations of Jean-Pierre's production philosophy, who leaves nothing to chance, carefully tending to all the details.of the production process. At the same time, the estate is committed to environmental sustainability, evidenced by the fact that it was the third wine estate in all of France to be certified HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) for its commitment to preserving biodiversity and minimizing environmental impact. Furthermore, in 2017 the winery fully converted to organic farming. The harvests are done by hand and are accompanied by strict selection of the grapes, followed by delicate pressing. Based on the characteristics of the base wines, the ideal blend for the non-vintage cuvées is then chosen, and the entire production process employs the most modern technologies in the sector to enhance the qualities of the raw material.
With 30 different parcels, characterized by microclimates and heterogeneous soils, Vazart-Coquart can produce Champagne of diverse types and styles. Each label features three small stylized geese, an animal that once populated the streetsof Chouilly and which was chosen by the Vazart family to symbolize the three winemaking generations of the family.
