Amarone Riserva 'Ca' Florian' Tommasi 2008
The Amarone Riserva “Ca' Florian” by Tommasi is a prestigious and deep red, as well as one of the most representative expressions in its category. The name of the Tommasi family is undoubtedly one of those inextricably linked to the winemaking Valpolicella, so much so that its foundation dates back to 1902 and the generational handover has increased the ambition and vineyard heritage of the renowned Venetian winery. Today, the vineyard area is more than 200 hectares, with holdings that practically span every suitable parcel in the area, although the production intent has not changed despite the size and remains that of bottling traditional liquids of the highest quality level. The style of the winery is recognizable and distinctive, aimed at the relentless pursuit of elegance, harmony, and balance in what is a more than successful mission. An iconic winery.
The Ca' Florian is obtained from the classic blend of Amarone which includes Corvina Veronese, Corvinone, and Rondinella, and from a single vineyard called Ca' Florian, located in the municipality of San Pietro in Cariano. In the vineyard, utmost attention is paid to the ripeness of the grapes, which are hand-harvested, while subsequently, the drying process takes place in the fruit drying room, followed by alcoholic fermentation that occurs in wooden vats and lasts about a month.attention to the ripeness of the grapes, which are hand-harvested, while subsequently, the drying process takes place in the fruit drying room, and with alcoholic fermentation that occurs in wooden vats and lasts about a month. The liquid ages for one year in 500-liter tonneaux and for another 3 years in large Slavonian oak barrels before bottling, where it rests for an additional year.
The “Ca' Florian” Amarone Riserva literally fills the glass with its dense and intense ruby color. The nose is extremely rich and luscious, where a multitude of descriptors stand out including blackberry, marasca cherry, licorice, graphite, and cocoa. The olfactory breadth, virtually boundless, is reflected in a sip that has volume and breath, as well as a velvety texture. A very long finish for what is a wine for important dishes or solitary meditation.
