The Bolgheri Superiore “Campo al Fico” is a classic intense and elegant Supertuscan, which renews the great vocation of the Tuscan coast for the cultivation of the famous Bordeaux grape varieties. It is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc aged for a long time in barrique, expressing complex and evolved aromas of great charm and persistence. The rich and balanced sip unfolds harmoniously on the palate, with velvety tannins and pleasant freshness. An important label, to be paired with red meat dishes or game.
The “Campo al Fico” comes from the Pineta di Carolo vineyard, trained with single and double guyot on a calcareous and sandy soil with a high density of 7900 vines per hectare. The very dense planting and an agronomic management without the use of synthetic chemical products have naturally led the plants to find a balance and produce with very low yields, not exceeding 45 quintals per hectare. The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand, and Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc are vinified separately. The fermentations take place using only indigenous yeasts in tanks steel, with maceration on the skins for about 20 days. The wines mature for 20 months in French oak barriques and finish the aging period with 12 months in bottle.
