Vinho Biológico
The Etna Rosso “Monte Gorna” is produced by Cantine Nicosia, a historic winery from Mongibello, located in Trecastagni, on the southeastern slope of Etna. It is a label that stands out for its particular balance and harmony. A moderate aging in wood allows the Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio to reach full expressive maturity while preserving the pleasant varietal fragrance. Its clear immediacy of drink, the smooth and delicately aromatic sip, are among its best qualities.
The “Monte Gorna” is an organic Etna Rosso produced by Cantine Nicosia, one of the most important estates in the Etna area. The vineyards of Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio are located in Contrada Monte Gorna, at an altitude of about 700 meters above sea level. The soils are composed of sands and rocks generated by lava disintegration, very rich in minerals. The cool temperatures and significant temperature variations favor a slow maturation of the grapes, which are harvested in the second half of October with very rich aromas. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 24-26 °C, with the classic maceration on the skins. The wine matures for 50% in steel tanks and for the remaining 50%, for a period of 5-6 months in barriques and for 3-4 months in large barrels. Before being released on the market, it completes the aging with at least 6 months in the bottle.
The Etna Rosso “Monte Gorna” from Cantine Nicosia is a label that well represents the terroir and character of the typical red grape varieties of Etna. It is particularly suitable to be served with first courses with meat or game sauces, with roasted or grilled meats. In the glass, it presents a bright light ruby red color with slight garnet reflections. Elegant and fine, on the nose it expresses fragrant aromas of small red berries, currants, cherries, raspberries, hints of aromatic herbs from the Mediterranean scrub, licorice root, nuances of cloves, and delicate spices. Medium-bodied, it opens on the palate with refined fruity aromas, supported by a pleasant and evolved tannic texture. The finish is pleasantly fresh, balsamic, and has good taste persistence.
