The 'Nieddera' Contini is a fresh and easy-drinking rosé wine based on Nieddera and other red grape varieties from the area. Savory, smooth, and with a vibrant sip, it expresses notes of berries, vegetal hints, and saline nuances on the nose. Perfect with fish and shellfish dishes or as an aperitif.

The ‘Nieddera’ Rosé from the historic Sardinian winery Contini is a rosé wine with a savory and fruity taste, resulting from a blend of Nieddera and other red grapes from the area. Nieddera is one of the countless native varieties of Sardinia, particularly widespread in the Oristanese territory, where the Contini family operates. It is an ancient grape variety with somewhat mysterious origins, with some claiming it is related to Carignano, while other hypotheses place its arrival in Sardinia during the Phoenician era, around the distant 8th-7th century BC. What is certain is that its name derives from the particularly dark color of the berries, as in the Sardinian language “nièddu” means “black”.

The ‘Nieddera’ Contini Rosé is made from a blend of Nieddera and other black grape varieties from the valley of the Tirso river, located within the Sinis peninsula. Here, the vines benefit from the warm and breezy Mediterranean climate, as well as the sandy and slightly clayey matrix of the soils. After the the grapes undergo crushing and destemming and then the skin maceration of 12-24 hours, necessary to obtain the desired color. Subsequently, the must ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 16-18 °C, the same type of wine containers used for the short aging of a few months that precedes the final bottling.

The ‘Nieddera’ Rosé by Contini has an intense and bright pink color. Fine and delicate on the nose, defined by notes of red fruits such as raspberry and cherry, along with light herbal and floral hints. On the palate, it is savory and refreshing, with a fragrant finish that is slightly fruity. A Sardinian rosé wine designed to be consumed young and chilled, especially as an aperitif to counter the heat of summer evenings.
