Garofoli Gioacchino
After 50 harvests and continuing a family business founded in the late 1800s, the Garofoli brothers have managed to connect their name over time with that of quality Marche wine, now assisted by the fifth generation of the family. Garofoli can today boast a centuries-old history, in addition to the merit of having promoted the re-evaluation of Verdicchio in the 1980s by creating an innovative style, distinguishing itself with significant numbers (one and a half million bottles produced each year).
Scattered across various locations in the province of Ancona, the vineyards extend for a total of 50 hectares in a hilly area between the sea and the Apennines, at altitudes ranging from 50 to 300 meters above sea level. The grapes cultivated in the four estates owned by the company, along with others purchased from local growers, flow into two different wineries, where updated production techniques respect the traditional and historical systems of winemaking. While red grapes are harvested in temperature-controlled fermenters, followed by aging in barrels and oak casks, the vinification of white grapes involves the use of soft presses, soft, the decantation of musts at low temperatures, fermentation obtained with selected yeasts, and storage in underground tanks or refrigerated stainless steel. Bottling is done cold, to ensure shelf life but above all to enhance the aromas obtained during winemaking, and some wines undergo further aging in the bottle in an underground room at low temperature.
The Garofoli brand is synonymous with elegance and composure, classicism, exquisite and vegetal aromas, and intense bouquets. The numbers, the recognitions, and the fame demonstrate, if there is still a need, the excellence of a winery that has made its history and experience a strong point.
