Primosic
Primosic is a winery located on the hill of Oslavia, near the border between Italy and Slovenia, with a history closely linked to the winemaking tradition of Collio. As early as the late 1800s, Carlo Primosic was selling his wines in Vienna, the capital of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The first bottle with the Collio designation left the winery in 1967, under the visionary leadership of Silvan Primosic, one of the first producers to join the Consorzio Collio. Today, Silvan is assisted by his sons Boris and Marko, who are happy to contribute to the family history.
The vineyards of Primosic are divided into two main bodies: the Klin cru in Oslavia and the Murno cru in Scedina, along with other plots in the plains. The microclimate is perfect for vine growth, with the Julian Alps behind and the Adriatic Sea in front; the bora wind ensures excellent ventilation and temperature variation in the marl and sandstone-rich soils. The entire cultivation regime is carried out as naturally as possible, respecting the land and bringing the original genuineness of the fruit into the bottle.
The wines of Primosic, or "those of Carlo," as they are called in the area, have a good aging potential thanks to the practice of macerating the grapes on the skins, even for the production of white wines. These wines are true to their region of origin, with character and aromas similar in style to some Alsatian whites. Among the range of whites, the deep Klin blend and the Ribolla Gialla produced with skin maceration stand out.
