Roccafiore
The Roccafiore winery is located on the green hills that surround the Umbrian town of Todi, about 50 kilometers from Perugia. Owned by the Baccarelli family since 1999 and now led by the young and talented Luca, the estate is not only a wine producer but also hosts a beautiful and chic resort with a spa, wellness center, and restaurant, attracting tourists from all over the world each year. Roccafiore was born as a project for environmental sustainability and continuous experimentation; in fact, the constant search for new low-impact formulas has become the winery's philosophy to produce wines of the highest quality. It is worth noting that it was among the first to adopt photovoltaic systems to minimize CO2 emissions. Furthermore, environmental sensitivity is also realized in the vineyard, where the use of biofuels, renewable energies, and the reduction of irrigation systems has allowed for respectful and sustainable agriculture.
The winery is a green space of 90 hectares nestled among the sweet and magical Umbrian hills that breathe the countryside air. Among olive trees, animal farms, and crops of legumes and cereals, there are 15 hectares dedicated exclusively to the cultivation of indigenous vines. Grechetto is the flagship and successful variety, accompanied by Sangiovese, Sagrantino, Montepulciano, and Trebbiano Spoletino. The vines surround the residence and create a very picturesque landscape. In the modern winery, spontaneous fermentations take place with indigenous yeasts inside stainless steel tanks, while the aging occurs in large 50hl oak barrels, in barriques, or in the same stainless steel tanks for the simpler and more drinkable versions.
Roccafiore wines taste of Umbria and are appreciated worldwide, to the point that 50% of the production is strongly requested abroad, in Europe, Asia, Oceania, and America. The labels are characterized by a very clean, precise, and elegant profile, marked by freshness and high drinkability. The reds, as per tradition, have a good tannic imprint and are warm and characterful. Grechetto is the most appreciatedby Americans for its soft and complex character, supported by a driving freshness. In short, whites, reds, and rosés all worth trying for a unique and decidedly Umbrian sip!
