Rosset

The wine-growing reality of Rosset Terroir is an innovative interpreter of Valle d'Aosta enology, capable of enhancing the distinctive traits of the territory in a modern and international key. The winery was founded in 2001 in the municipality of Quart, a few kilometers east of the city of Aosta, when the Rosset family planted the first 3 hectares of vineyards in the Senin area of Saint-Christophe. In the following years, the estate acquired vineyards in various areas, but the turning point came in 2017 with the purchase of some hectares in Villeneuve, over 900 meters above sea level. In a short time, the winery has managed to establish itself nationally and internationally, and today Rosset wines are winning numerous awards from industry magazines and guides. In addition to wine production, the estate is dedicated to the cultivation of raspberries, artemisia, and saffron. The 12 hectares of vineyards managed by Rosset Terroir are reserved for native and international varieties such as Petite Arvine, Moscato Bianco, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Syrah, Cornalin, Nebbiolo, Pinot Nero, and Petit Rouge. The vines benefit from the very high altitudes, that reach almost 1,000 meters above sea level, as well as the sandy and rocky matrix of the soils, particularly rich in minerals such as slate, granite, and quartz. When the grapes have reached the ideal stage of ripeness, manual harvesting is carried out in boxes, aimed at bringing perfectly intact bunches to the winery. To enhance the freshness and aromas of the wine, the grapes are usually subjected to a short cold pre-fermentation maceration, and, according to the same principle, the alcoholic fermentation takes place at controlled temperature. Vinifications and aging occur in different types of wine containers, such as stainless steel tanks, oak barrels, and terracotta amphorae, often used in combination to create wines with a distinctive character. The Rosset Terroir winery is the creator of expressions with a fresh and mineral nature, an authentic reflection of the mountainous territory of Valle d'Aosta. Whether white or red, the estate's wines maintain a vibrant tension and an engaging aromatic intensity.
