Terrazze dell'Etna
The modern winery of Terrazze dell’Etna is located within the Etna Regional Park, at about 800 meters above sea level, on the northwestern slopes of what is simply called 'a Muntagna' by the locals. Starting from the acquisition of small plots, the Palermitan engineer Nino Bevilacqua founded this production reality in 2008, inspired by the ancient agricultural environment characteristic of Etna.
The Terrazze dell’Etna project was also made possible thanks to the oenological consultancy of Riccardo Cottarella, who helps Nino Bevilacqua produce, harvest after harvest, wines of the highest quality that reflect and, above all, respect the great personality of the territory. We are indeed talking about one of the most rugged and fascinating areas of all Sicily, in the locality of Bocca d’Orzo, municipality of Randazzo, with a suggestive amphitheater of vineyards that extends between 650 and 900 m above sea level. The vineyard area is organized into small terraces supported by dry stone walls and old wine presses, surrounded by oak and chestnut woods. The grapes of Nerello Mascalese and Cappuccio find their ideal habitat here, thanks to the cool and ventilated climate, to the strong temperature fluctuations between day and night, and a soil rich in minerals.
