Castello di Verduno
Castello di Verduno is an ancient reality of Piedmontese wine. Its origins date back to the 16th century, when the Castle was built, later renovated according to the design of the architect Juvarra. In 1838 it was purchased by King Carlo Alberto of Savoy, who entrusted the management of the estate to the winemaker Staglieno. Today, Castello di Verduno represents an excellence of the Langhe and has vineyards in the prestigious areas of Barbaresco and Verduno. Thanks to careful and meticulous vineyard management and winemaking and aging processes conducted with extreme care, the winery is able to offer a range of high-quality labels that give voice to terroirs that have been dedicated to the production of great reds for centuries.
The estate is managed with great care and a deep understanding of the characteristics of the territory by Franco Bianco, who, along with his wife Gabriella Burlotto, takes care of the management of the property. In the countryside, each parcel and every single vine is tended from winter pruning to harvest with the sole objective of obtaining healthy, perfectly ripe grapes and characterized by intense and rich aromas. Only starting from high-quality bunches, in fact, it is possible to obtain great wines that can represent the history and tradition of an excellent terroir of the Langhe. One of the peculiarities of the estate is the presence of vineyards of the indigenous variety Pelaverga, which today is a true jewel of the winery. A label particularly loved by the most attentive and refined enthusiasts.
The company operates in two different locations. In the Barbaresco area, the winemaking of the wines of the namesake denomination takes place, while in Verduno, the processing of the grapes cultivated in this famous cru of the Langhe territory occurs. The winemaking processes are carried out traditionally with fermentations conducted in open tanks with skin macerations and long aging in large oak barrels, according to the oldest customs of the territory. The wines reflect the classic style of the great wines of the Langhe, capable of combining finesse elegance, aromatic intensity, and extraordinary longevity.
