La Caudrina

La Caudrina is a family-run winery in Piemonte, located near Castiglione Tinella, in the beautiful hilly area between Alba and Nizza Monferrato. Always connected to the customs of the territory, it produces wines that reflect the historical tradition of these lands, situated between the Langhe and the Monferrato Astigiano, for centuries the cradle of Moscato Bianco. The estate was founded in the 1940s by Redento Dogliotti, who at the beginning of his activity limited himself to cultivating the vine and then selling the musts to the large wineries in the area for the production of the classic Moscato d’Asti, one of the historical wines of our peninsula, known all over the world.

In the 1970s, the generational shift saw the entry of Romano Dogliotti into the company, who decided to change the face of the winery. Aware of the value of the owned vineyards and the excellent quality level of the musts, he began to bottle the wine himself. The idea was to create a great Moscato, far awayof industrial production, which had depressed the quality level, in favor of a commercial vision focused only on quantity. His Moscato offered a version that was very respectful of the authentic character of a great grape, with a perfect balance between the seductive softness of the fruit, the aromatic richness, and the freshness. The wine thus abandoned the banal sugary sweetness to present itself in a form respectful of the grape variety and its history, always linked to all the countries that are part of the Mediterranean area.

The success of Moscato La Caudrina has pushed Romano Dogliotti to expand his production with a range of labels capable of giving voice to and making known the other excellences of the territory of Castiglione Tinella. The property has grown with the purchase of a beautiful Barbera vineyard located in Nizza Monferrato, in one of the most vocated places in Piemonte for the cultivation of this generous grape variety. Today the estate extends over about 25 hectares, all situated in wonderful hilly exposures, at an altitude between 200 and 300
