Olianas - Le Anfore
The Olianas winery is a young Sardinian reality located in the Sarcidano region, an area of the island particularly suited for viticulture. The project was born in 2000 from the fortunate meeting between Stefano Casadei, a Tuscan producer, and Artemio Olianas. The two immediately found many similarities in their approach to the work of the winemaker and created an estate based on the principles of respect for the environmental ecosystem and the pursuit of uncompromising quality. The intent has been clear from the beginning: to produce expressions that are sincere and genuine, inspired by tradition, made following biological principles and environmental sustainability, in order to avoid any exploitation of soil resources.
The estate extends over approximately 25 hectares, located in the heart of Sarcidano, an area between Campidano, Marmilla, and Barbagia, about 60 kilometers north of Cagliari. The vineyards are managed following the Biointegrale philosophy, which is an approach to agriculture based on environmental protection through the use of biodynamic practices and renewable energies. All treatments with chemical products are excluded, and the natural vitality of the soil is maintained, trying to promote biodiversity among the rows, using horses for soil cultivation, to avoid compacting the land with heavy agricultural machinery. A way of considering vine cultivation as part of a harmonious and sustainable ecosystem.
The Olianas vineyards are cultivated at an altitude of about 370 meters above sea level, on medium-textured soils, with an abundant sandy and skeletal component, making them very draining and suitable for vines. The climate is hot and dry, mitigated by winds descending from the mountainous Gennargentu, capable of creating significant temperature variations between day and night temperatures and keeping the clusters always dry and healthy. The red grape varieties are cultivated on two types of soils. Cannonau and Bovale have been planted on rather deep clayey and sandy soils, which produce intense and concentrated wines. Carignano and some vineyards of Cannonau are found on sandier soils, which produce fruitier and fresher wines. For the white grape varieties, Vermentino and Nasco, sandy and sandy marl soils have been chosen, which characterize Olianas wines with a profile of great elegance and finesse.
